Civicspace is a packaged CMS built on the Drupal CMS. It was made famous by it use in the political arena as a tool for politicians to contact voters via the internet. Later Civicspace was launched into the limelight for being chosen to run the "spreadfirefox" campaigns website.

In 2006 the Civispace project became an application service provider and active developement of the Civicspace CMS as an open source PHP CMS was stopped. The last available version of the CMS is based on version 4.6 of the Drupal CMS. CivicSpace is a community organizing platform. It allows you to build communities online and offline that can communicate effectively.

CivicSpace was built with the needs of distributed organizations in mind.
