IDE is more than an editor

The reason I use flex builder pro is that I get a graphic debugger and profiler to go with my intelligent editor. I wish it wasn't based on eclipse, though. For java, the latest netbeans is much better than eclipse, and I would quickly replace my flex builder with a netbeans flex plugin if one existed.

Installation Tips & Thanks =)

Thanks! Worked like a charm!

If anyone can succeed with the install and than do not find it in the phpinfo(), than check your php.ini and see if the "extension_dir" is the same path were is located the file "eaccelerator.so", if not, just move that file to your "extension_dir" and you're done! :)

Oh, and sometimes, you may want to set the
"# And where should it be installed?" path to:
INSTALLDIR=${HOME}

So don't specify the directory, just leave the variable HOME, with no slash at the end.

Hope this helps someone! ;)

I have noticed that many tend to run at the mouth about the subject and do not mention anything about computer science code or programming. Not that I have anything against fan-boys but real you could pick up a book every once in a while and maybe come up with something more original than "you are wrong". Maybe even read the article rather than just the title. You might learn something!

Cliche Thinking Stinks

Before you write an article claiming that X or Y is nor is not "enterprise-ready" it would not hurt to understand what the word "enterprise system" means. An enterprise system is a system that integrates several distinct systems required to run a large organization like: its operation management, financial management, customer relationship management and other systems in one coherent, inter-connected system.

In this regard: yes, Drupal is not an enterprise system, because nobody ever wanted it to be and nobody claims it to be; but that has exactly nothing to do with all the cliche reasons you list, like whether front-end controller is a good design pattern or not. Oh, for God's sake, you really have nothing better to spend your time on?

I am sorry, but your analysis stinks of "black-or-white" kind of arguments. Most things are gray! There is no black or white. You need to grow up and realize that.

Good luck

myspace??

I think it was a huge mistake to describe this as an opensource Myspace clone, instead of using the project creators' express intentions and chosen descriptors. Some years down the track, everyone looks at MySpace as the last next big thing, and this review is badly dated (and that reflects unfairly on AroundMe).

A comparative study of Open Source CMS ( Joomla vs Drupal)

Open source content management systems can make the tasks of creating and managing your website a lot easier - and there's no licensing fee involved

The issues on comparisons between Joomla and Drupal are very common these days as they are currently considered the top two open source content management systems (CMS) out there. But, Which one is more usable, powerful and popular ?

It's a simple question with no simple answer

Please go to this link and answer some questions (especially for those who have experienced in using Joomla and Drupal --> Online Survey )

www.2b.ceomalaya.com

your contributions will make us determine which one is more usable..
thank you

OOP Drupal Module

This same functionality exists in the Droopal module. The Droopal module offers full OOP access to and from all modules and includes with almost no performance overhead.

CMS Jumble

When I initially went out to review a CMS to use for my freelance projects - i opted for Joomla as it was mentioned a lot within the freelancing community. For a web design turn part time - part lackluster web dev Joomla was just too much of a hurdle to jump - the structure was simply not laid out as easy as it should be. Wordpress on the other hand - simple - massive community base around it - and better still - easy to administer by the clients.

Its a nice list - but the only one i'll be evaluating next is chyrp.

Flex could die?

Good post. I think your point has some validity. I work in an IBM Websphere shop and we use the IBM RAD(Eclipse) tools. Even if the flex builder 3 plugin were free, it doesn't work in an IBM IDE environment. Adobe doesn't release an XSD for the MXML language, thus this makes it difficult to even use a poor man's editor in Eclipse.

I'm researching other products but those cost money and are stand-alone (e.g. IntelliJ, FDT, etc). However, those cost money and make it difficult to integrate into our current IDE environment. Heck, Websphere accounts for nearly 40% of the big iron commercial app servers.

The fruit is already dying on the vine.

To Derek Webb: damn bro, you...

To Derek Webb: damn bro, you make DB design and understanding as complicated as a rocket science. Dude, it's not that complicated. Anyone who had done DB rational design or algorithm in college/university, they can look at a database design and point out what's wrong and whats not. Most design can go through simple algebra and normalization process. Sometimes DB designers ignores them for flexibility and for other issues. Not a smart move, but has been practiced by many big companies, and drupal is an example.

I don't understand why someone with good Db designer has to look at the same db structure for few years to make comment. you are hilarious.

I'm not sure that "best" and "biggest market share" necessarily equate though. I continue to be surprised at Joomla's continued success given the difficulty in designing for it and it's general lack of adherence to web standards in comparison to a number of other alternatives.

Does feel that the open source CMS market is continuing to fragment, however.
