Blogging technology

Blogging with a mobile phone could be the next big thing in community building and social networking for Web 2.0. But there are a few hang ups. One of them is the mobile phone itself. Typing in information into a mobile phone is just a pain. I can't imagine me typing in a 1500 word blog with my old Nokia. People using their phones or other devices to post about people, things and places of interest they encounter will have to be as simple as possible. While possible with most phones it is not particulary convenient to post ot a community blog or disscussion forum using a mobile phone. You get short 20 word text messages rather than insightful prose.

Well Sony Ericsson has a cure for this ailment in their new M600i mobile phone. With this phone sending email becomes a snap. Since community and social networking is can be email based communication this phone might have a special niche. The qwerty style keyboard pulls you in to wanting one of these phones right away. It plays mp3 but does not have fm-radio. This I can live without as long as there is mp3 I won't miss radio too much. Wap 2.0 , bluetooth, java... the whole gamut of software tachnolgy and connectivity are in this clean looking phone.

This mobile phone makes an almost perfect tool for moblogging. Although it is not readily apparent how you can make a phone call I consider this little user friendly thing a sort of keyboard lock or pin code protection. It can be over looked. But it's still not perfect because it is missing the one thing that people buy new mobile phone to get, a camera. This one flaw may over shadow all the other goodies that you get. It is also the one thing that stops me personally from waiting in a queue to get one. I did not buy a Nokia 9100 because of its lack of a camera. So although the Sony Ericcson m600i looks to be a better phone I cannot overlook the lack a of built-in camera and I will still wait to see what comes next.

It's a pity, none of the excellent Drupal RSS tools is working on this site. Tried to syndicate the HMM on CMS Downloads, and see what happened

Can you do something for your feeds?
Thanks

I checked all the feeds. They are working but perhaps you have the wrong url?

I have changed the design lightly and added icon for the feeds to the top with the right linking.
