A High Demand for PHP Developers in 2007

PHP developers may finally get their props in 2007. Though PHP has been very popular in the past years the job market has not reflected a need for PHP only programming. 2006 showed a steady rise in demand for developers and 2007 looks to be a boom year.

All of the php developer employment statistics point to a properous year for those that have PHP in their arsenal of programming knowledge. PHP never seemed to enjoy the high demand for workers that ASP had when it was on top. The dot.com bubble made ASP something that everyone had to know. Now with a conjucture that is showing high promise is on the horizon, PHP developers are sitting in good standing on the job market.

Job ads are stating PHP development first in the list as opposed to being on the list of merits a job candidate should have when applying. PHP is no longer being hidden behind Java and ASP.NET when looking through job sites like Monster.com and Dice.com. This is good news because it shows that both recruiters and companies are recognizing PHP as a power tool in running a business. PHP is no longer a trend but a need.

While there seemed to be a down turn in things when PHP 5 was released now PHP is showing a steady rise. The long term trend for PHP is strong. PHP on web servers is also showing a steady and strong penetration rate.

Google Trends shows an unnatural steadiness in PHP over the last year. In comparison to Java which seems to be all over the map. ASP.NET is also showing signs of consistency. When things are so level and unchanging in the mainstream it is usually followed by a great up turn. It is not apparent right now what may trigger a sudden rise in the PHP trend. But PHP developers will be able to sleep comfortably knowing PHP is going to enjoy another year of success. With success and demand comes jobs.
