Carl | Thu, 2007-08-09 13:24 tags: Developer Zone, Firefox, Tips and Tricks I just figured out what to me is a serious bug in Firefox 1.5 and above. It seems that if you are using overflow on a div there is a minimun height that has to be set before the scroll vertical scroll bar appears. I was creating a Drupal form when I notice that in IE6/7 the vertical scrollbar was fine. I was using a height of 30px which works fine in IE. Though small the controls appear. If I use auto then things are still fine and the scroll controls are full-sized regardless the 30px setting. But in Firefox the vertical scroll disappears completely. This is an obvious bug in Firefox. I would report it but previous experience tells me that it will go un-fixed and I will get thousands of bug messages until it is fixed. I once reported a problem with auto- incremeting in ordered lists and got inundated with emails from 2004 to early 2006 when someone finally fixed and removed the bug from the mailinglists. Hopefully someone with more patience with the bugtracker will report this but in the meantime all my scrolling divs will be 50+ pixels in height. Ten years of experience in web development.
