The mechanic takes advantage of eruby portablity and simplicity to create a blog application. The script uses flat-files for a data source. This is a great beginners tutorial that shows how to create the dynamic menus and setup things cleanly on the server.

Mechanic leaves the setting up of eRuby over to others like Hiveminds Magazine. So if you are looking for something to experiment with right after you check out the eRuby for the web tutorial then give the mechanic a click.

Happy Publishing!

I updated the post, it is basic but complete and dynamic in 35 lines of code! it is not unique in the sense that you could do the same thing in php, perl or python. what makes it interesting is that you could start with something really simple and slowly build it up.

I did not really think of it as a blogging application, but It can certainly be used in that sense or to build simple todos or bulletin board style systems.
