Test and Opinion

After reading the above post I immediately downloaded the Release Candidate of Wordpress 2.5. I set up a demo (admin/admin) here on Dreamhost and expected to see a miracle of modern PHP programming at play. It should have been blindingly fast and crisp. But alas I was disappointed. It takes a minute for each page load in the admin area. While the frontend was not terribly slow for Dreamhost it is in the 3 to 4 second range which is ridiculous for an empty website with it's own database. I am not sure where the problem lies but you may want to try out this version and consider carefully before upgrading. Performance does not look good right now.
