Even in this day and age their are people that promote vaporware. They seem to think that they are smarter and more crafty than other developers and seek to take advantage of newbies to the world of programming.

Such a project is the Soop Portal ASP project. It is quite litterally nothing but a scam. So if you are looking for a content management system written in Classic ASP don't waste your time with this bunch of con artists.

Where's the download!

Where can I dowload the Soop web community software? Many prospective new users have come to SoopPortal.org and asked "where is the download link?" The answer is that -- presently -- the installation download link has been deactivated. The Soop Portal development team is hard at work on several new Soop releases and, until the new software is ready for release, none of the previous versions will be available for download. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and we will elaborate on the circumstances and issues surrounding this situation once our next release of Soop is ready. Please keep your eyes trained on this article for more information regarding the next release of Soop Portal, the free open-source web community software. But there is much good news to report, including a contest...so please read on!

Okay, there is no download which means one thing. That is is not open source you idiots!!! You can't promote something as being open source and then not give people the source. But while this may be clear to monkeys at the zoo, small children and micro-bacteria apparently it is not so self-evident to the higher lifeforms ( I personally don't think that they are a form of life but scum )that are running the soop portal website.

Remember First Page?

A few years ago there was a similar internet con artist running a website that had a free and open source clone of Microsoft frontpage, called "First Page" for year this pinhead promoted a new version of the sofware and lived off of the kindness of innocents and delivered nothing. What the developer did was promote the new and better version while allowing only downloads of the older version which was total crap. There was no newer version. It was vaporware used only to get people to download the old version and increase the websites Google standings. A similar thing is happening here with SoopPortal.org. The big difference is that by saying that they are an open source project they are giving the entire FOSS world a black eye.
