Back at changing modules again. This time the poll module. After surfing other Drupal sites a bit I noticed that the poll module is seldom used. Thinking about it for a while I came up with the idea that this is because there is no content associated to the poll when it is created. One of the nice usability items in a forum like phpBB is that when you make a post you can make a poll at the same time. So I looked at the code and a few short miniutes later had a poll module with a content entry textarea and that displayed the content on veiwing the poll and the results. Cool!

All this changing of modules like when I changed the image module to replace the story module has gotten me to thinking. Why do I have to make a choice of content type before I get to the content etry form. After all every one of them is almost exactly the same. Why can't I click on "create content" get a content form, fill it in and then choose what type of node it is from a drop list? This might go miles in the way of usability. Plus a merging would make the posting of images available to all node types in a single step. So what do you think is this something that should happen?
