Many Open Source content management systems written in PHP want to be recognized by the business industry as being "enterprise" ready. This is not only a mark of prestige and status but places them in a position where large companies are ready to invest in the software as a platform for their projects. Drupal is now trying making its move to be enterprise ready but has a long way to go.

Movabletype released an open source version of Movabletype 4.1 Yea!. But they suck at creating and supporting a community. Boo!. Nearly a half year ago they opened Movabletype.org again. Since then the only thing you can get there is confused. First they have the beta version of the CMS under the download button on the first page. Not the MTOS (open source) version but the retail version that is in beta! It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out this is just wrong. Secondly...

Dropping Google Adsense is easier said than done. First I have to acknowledge why I use Adsense in the first place. I use it because it is easy and if I get lucky and write something meaningful then maybe I will get enough traffic, appreciation or sympathy to nail a few clicks that pay. Otherwise there is no good reason for using adsense. That was the pro but there are many cons to using Google Adsense.

It maybe something you have heard about or seen on a website. So you take these ideas to cmsmatrix and try to compare the available web publishing systems using...

Today I became very frustrated while trying to get out some emails. I was using Mozilla Thunderbird and at the end of a reply to an email I wanted to add a signature. I could not find any way of doing this in Thunderbird and so I googled the question "Thuderbird insert signature". I was immediately greeted with a link to addons.mozilla.org. I clicked on the link and there it was a brand new shining extension ready to install and make me happy! The experience made me think about how similar...

The bottomline is that I like Jedit because it was the only editor or IDE that I could find that has syntax highlighting for eRuby, Ruby, PHP and does Unicode. Out of dozens of commercial and open source editors and IDEs and Jedit came out on top. It is the editor you need to have if you are going to do eRuby or Ruby. And it is free!

Adaptive Website Framework 2.1.4 is a nice clean application for building pre-configured websites. AWFhas one of he best access control schemes that I have ever seen. The adminstration back-end on the whole is much better than that of more popular web pupublishing systems like Mambo, Drupal, Joomla or even Wordpress. It just has great usabilty.
