Cuyahoga is an open source .NET web site framework.

Cuyahoga is an open source .NET web site framework. It provides content management capabilities and has a modular approach. Currently it works with MS .NET 2.0 with SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL as database backend. Also, from version 1.5.2, Mono is fully supported again.
The main goal of the project is to show .NET developers that there is a different way of building web applications than the well known sample applications. Although the project is targeted primarily at .NET developers, anybody interested can download the source and start playing.
Code Browser
You can browse the source for Cuyahoga 1.5.2 here.

Features
With Cuyahoga you can maintain a web site structure and manage templates, users and roles. All content management is done with separate modules. The webmaster can maintain the site structure, templates, users and roles from a secured administration module. Content management is done via the site itself, so contributors don't need to have access to the site administration.

Hiveminds reaches the 5000 user mark!

This is a really nice milestone to start something new on. Hiveminds Magazine has reached 5000 members now after being online for 3 years and 33 weeks. I am going to take the site into some new directions by building on a marketplace for content management systems. I am also establishing developer networks for learning the insides of the more popular PHP content management systems.
It seems that more and more consultants and others are using finished CMS's to create websites. But they are having a difficult time finding good trustworthy web developers that know these systems. What the Developer Networks and Marketplace will do is bring together the commercial aspects of this trend. Developer's will be able to gain more knowledge and at the same time use that knowledege to become more lucrative. Buyers will feel more confident about hiring developers and purchasing software.
Now how this is all going to happen is still liquid. I am fleshing out some ideas and coming up with new ones along the way. I also am looking for as much input as possible from other communities and individuals. So hang out a bit and watch the construction, or the train wreck as it happens.

Drupal.org falls and Drupal.st released

It's about 9:30 in the evening here on a saturday and I am sitting doing some Drupal CMS development. Just of late I have gotten behind on a module project so I will have to work all weekend to catch up. While scratching my head over a code problem I decide to visit Drupal.org and check an issue or two. The sites database server was dead. All the evening I thought that it was my really bad wireless connection that was the problem but now I see that Drupal.org is down for maintenance or has fallen under the user load. Well I can't stop that from getting things done. The most important parts of drupal.org for me are the handbook pages and the API site. Luckily for me we decided to put up our own version of the API site and to transfer as much of the Drupal Handbook as we could find over to a MediaWiki. Thus Drupal.st is born.
Drupal.st is a little different from the original drupal.org and the other support websites because we have decided that the only way to really keep up with the documentation was to use a wiki rather than the Drupal CMS to store information. This works out rather nicely. We have not gotten around to having a single logon for the wiki and the API site but it is in the works. We may also let drupal.org users use their drupal.org logins but that remains to be seen. Because the drupal.org site has to be up and running for this to work the cross-site logins are a debatable thing.
One thing that is bothering us about Drupal.st is that it is being run on Dreamhost. Dreamhost is so slow of late and the database servers don't seem to be able to keep up with both mediawiki and Drupal. So this will all boil down to costs. The google ads here at Hiveminds cover the costs of hosting Hiveminds Magazine but they are not enough to cover another busy website. The feeling is that we will have to move from dreamhost to a better and more expensive web host if drupal.st becomes popular. I hope that it does but it is also comforting knowing that it is my secret place to go when Drupal.org is down.

My Joomla 1.5 beta bubble is burst

CMS user
After reading that Joomla CMS 1.1 has been renamed to Joomla CMS 1.5 because to all the changes made I was pleased. Not every project has the guts to do this. The beta is supposed to be released later on this month so I got very excited. My excitement turned to disappointment when I tried to get a demo site up here at Dreamhost. After going through the install routine I clicked on the admin button and tried to log in. Nothing but a big error showed.

In the effort to release updated version as soon as possible after new issues are discovered, I hereby present PunBB 1.2.10. This release has been made to fix a couple of semi-serious security issues as well as a few minor bugs and annoyances. Fingers crossed, 1.2.10 should be the last release in the 1.2 tree. No, that does not mean I have a date or even an educated guess as to when 1.3 will be released. There are just too many variables involved for me to do that.
